IGCSE maths grade thresholds

How many marks each grade has needed since 2022 in Cambridge 0580, 0606 and 0607 and Edexcel 4MA1 and 4PM1, on the paper versions sat in Singapore, how many students reach the top grades, and a calculator to check your own marks. Every number comes from Cambridge's and Pearson's published tables.

In short

Four things to know

  1. An A* now takes about 85–90% of the marks

Since 2023, an A* in 0580 Extended on Singapore's papers has needed 169–180 of 200 marks, and in 0606 131–142 of 160. 2022 thresholds were lower: an A* in 0580 Extended needed 154 in June 2022.

  2. Use the thresholds for the papers you sat

Cambridge writes a different version of each paper for each group of time zones, each with its own thresholds. Singapore is in zone 5: for 0580 that means variant 3 in June and variant 2 in November. In November 2024 the 0607 Extended papers sat in Singapore needed 139 of 300 for a C, against 111 and 113 for the other versions.

  3. Edexcel grade 9 thresholds have risen since 2022

In Mathematics A Higher a 9 has needed 152–171 of 200 since June 2023, against 136 in January 2022; in Further Pure Mathematics 165–184. Schools in Singapore sit Pearson's regional (R) papers in June.

  4. Fewer top grades in November

Worldwide, 17–20% of 0580 candidates got an A* in each June from 2023 to 2026, against about 10% in November; 0606 shows the same gap. Compare a result with past results from the same month.

Calculator

What grade would my marks get?

Enter your marks for each paper. The calculator compares your total with the thresholds for the papers sat in Singapore in each past session.

/ 100
/ 100

Enter your marks for each paper.

Thresholds change every session, so this shows what a total would have reached in the past, not a prediction. 0580, 0606 and Edexcel totals are compared with every session (their total maximum did not change); 0607 only with the sessions since its 2025 change, using the weighted total (Cambridge does not say how it rounds it). Edexcel June and January sessions use the regional-paper thresholds.

Which papers students in Singapore sit

Cambridge writes a different version (variant) of each paper for each group of time zones, with its own thresholds; Singapore is in administrative zone 5. Pearson requires schools in Singapore to use its regional (R) papers where they exist.

Cambridge 0580
June: variant 3 (papers 13, 23, 33, 43). November: variant 2 (12, 22, 32, 42).
Cambridge 0606
June: variant 2 (papers 12, 22). November: variant 3 (13, 23).
Cambridge 0607
June and November: variant 2 (papers 12, 22, 32, 42, 52, 62).
Pearson Edexcel
June: regional papers (e.g. 1HR, 2HR, 01R, 02R). November: standard papers, as November has no regional papers.

From Cambridge's zone checker and its zone 5 timetables for June 2022, November 2022, November 2023, November 2024, June 2025 and June 2026, and Pearson's Information Manual. Your statement of results shows the paper numbers you actually sat.
