Home-visit mathematics tutoring for a small number of students
Each student has two-hour lessons at home, at least once a week, with materials, exam preparation and progress reports included. I work on more than mathematics: how the student studies, plans and revises, and how to make that more efficient. I keep the number of students small so that every student gets this level of attention.

I draw on IB Mathematics past papers going back to 1999, and give students more than 2,400 questions from the last 20 years, sorted by topic and question type and updated every exam session.

Workbook and flash cards
A dedicated notebook for every worked solution, plus flash cards for formulas, definitions and common question patterns.

Targeted problem sets before unit tests and mock exams at the student’s school.
Study methods and mentoring
I review how the student studies as a whole, including habits, planning and revision, and teach methods that make study time more efficient in every subject.
Lesson feedback and monthly report
Written feedback after every lesson, compiled into a report for parents each month.
How lessons run
- Length
- 2 hours per lesson.
- Frequency
- At least once a week, on a fixed weekly schedule.
- Place
- At the student’s home. The areas I can visit are confirmed during the consultation.
- Zoom
- Used when a home visit isn’t possible, and for late-evening sessions before tests.
- Schedule
- Lesson times may occasionally shift to fit travel between students’ homes. Any change is arranged with you in advance.
The first two months
The first two months of lessons are an evaluation period. It is how I take responsibility for each student I accept.

Assess
I assess the student’s learning type, study patterns, habits and ability. Having taught many different students over the years, I can usually see quickly where learning breaks down.
- Months 1–2
Rebuild
I set the teaching approach and start fixing the student’s overall learning system, not only mathematics: how to study, plan and revise, and how to learn more efficiently. I use a range of methods and tools to raise results.
- End of month 2
Decide
I decide whether lessons continue. If different methods still bring no breakthrough, or the fit between us isn’t right, I tell you openly and lessons end there. That way neither side spends time and money on lessons that aren’t working.
Alex’s 1:1 tutoring depends on trust between the student, the parents and the teacher. That trust matters more than anything else.
Fees and billing

- Billed monthly in advance. Around the last day of each month, I send an invoice for the next month’s scheduled lessons.
- Lessons that don’t take place (rescheduled with notice, illness, or cancelled by me) carry over to the following month.
- Payment by credit card or bank transfer. Invoices are issued by ALEX-MLC PTE. LTD.

Rescheduled lessons carry over to the next month and are never charged twice.
